Smart India Hackathon 2020

On 31st Jan and 1st Feb 2020, the internal Smart India Hackathon 2020 was organized in the BML Munjal University. Total 18 teams were registered with six students in each team. During this hackathon, each team was attached to mentors who nurture them throughout the process before the evaluation phase. The panel of experts/judges were constituted. The panel consisted of senior faculties from BML Munjal University, Gurgaon, Haryana, two experts from HUGHES SYSTIQUE and a one from Adobe Systems India Pvt Ltd.

The evaluation by the experts was carried out in two phases. In the First phase, 11 teams were selected out of 18 teams. These 11 teams then pitched in-front of a panel of 6 judges. Finally, the five software teams and two hardware teams were selected. These selected teams will now compete in National level after a further selection process based on their ideas. The students learn how interdisciplinary any problem is and how important it is to keep in mind to build a team to solve such a problem.

Smart India Hackathon 2020

Designing a prototype of a tethered aerostat system that can act as a long endurance aerial platform for a series of experiments. The aerostat can be used as an aerial laboratory for testing various applications like pollution and weather monitoring, Wi-Fi communications, aerial surveillance, along with promotion of the University. This will be done through collaborative efforts between BMU and Lighter-Than-Air systems Laboratory (LTA Lab) of IIT Bombay (IITB).

This project will permit students and faculty members to gain knowledge and hands-on experience in design and development of a practical system, which will be field deployed and tested. It will also help the students to increase their employability by acquiring various skillsets during the planning and execution of this project.

4. What is the eligibility criteria for B.Tech CSE Programme?

  • Applicants appearing in their class 12 examinations through any of the Boards affiliated to the Council of Boards of School Education (COBSE) or National or International Boards recognised by the Association of Indian Universities (AIU) are eligible to apply. Candidates studying under Indian Boards should have a minimum aggregate of 60% marks (or equivalent scores) in four subjects, viz. Physics, Mathematics, English and any one subject out of Chemistry, Biology, and Technical Vocational subjects.
  • For Cambridge/lGCSE examinations and examinations of the approved British Examination bodies, candidates with a minimum of five subjects and having Physics, Chemistry, Biology/Mathematics at the A-Level and English at AS-Level will be eligible to apply.
  • For the lB Career Related programme (IBCP), Students for Engineering or Medical Strand graduating with 3 DP subjects (Maths, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, or other similar subjects)with at least 1 subject at HL level and minimum 3 points in each DP subject, Career related Study with at least 3 subjects, IBCP qualification with core components requirement awarded by lB are eligible to apply.
  • Applicants are required to have completed one of the following entrance examinations/tests:
  • JEE (Main), with a minimum of 60 percentile. Students with aggregate score of 75% in class 12 but JEE (Main) percentile above 50% may be considered.
  • For SAT / BMU-SAT / CUET as per scores specified from time to time.
  • Candidates are advised to appear for BMU-SAT in case results of tests have not been announced or are not available.
  • Applicants who are Foreign Nationals/ Persons of Indian Origin (PIOs)/ Non-Resident Indians (NRls)/ Overseas Citizens of India (OCI) must have passed the qualifying examination or equivalent from any system of education as recognised by the Association of Indian Universities (AIU) with a minimum aggregate of 60% or equivalent and subjects as defined for candidates intending to join professional courses.
  • Under Early Admissions, students can apply even if their test scores or class 12 results are awaited. In such cases, BMU will extend a Provisional Offer to selected candidates who are in class 12, and the final offer is subject to verification of class 12 results and test scores by BMU.

7. Is there Industry Exposure within the B.Tech CSE course curriculum?

Throughout the duration of the programme, students will gain invaluable practical experience by applying this interdisciplinary and integrated learning to real-world problems. This will be made possible by way of Practice School, an internship concept. This initiative enable students to undergo meaningful work experience – over a period of four years. Students spend around 28 weeks, or 22% of their total contact hours, interning with a cross-section of industry. Practice School internships are courses with credit units and the grade so earned will be included in the cumulative GPA.
