What began in 2025 as a campus-wide showcase of innovation, creativity, research, dialogue and social impact now
evolves into an annual platform for bringing together the people, ideas and possibilities shaping the future.

From students, faculty and scholars to entrepreneurs, industry leaders, policymakers, alumni and changemakers,
SAAR creates a space where ideas meet action, perspectives meet possibilities, and learning translates into impact.

As SAAR enters its second edition, the conversation moves forward — with a new

Art That Questions. Stories That Stay. Perspectives That Shift.

SWAPNA brings the theme of The Curious Contradiction to life through art, installations, photography and experiential showcases. Exploring the intersections of memory, identity, society, heritage and human experience, these creative expressions invite visitors to question familiar narratives and discover new perspectives.

Dreams of Madness: Archives, Images and Memory

When does difference become defined as madness?

An exploration of how society constructs ideas of sanity, identity and difference through posters, texts, images and archival material. This installation questions the boundaries between understanding and controlling what we perceive as madness.

Dreams We Inherited – 1956 and 2026

Seventy years apart. How far have our dreams travelled?

A conversation between a newspaper from 1956 and its contemporary counterpart. Discover how aspirations, expectations and ideas of progress have transformed over seven decades – and what remains unchanged.

Bilaspur and the Curious Contradiction

When the promise of progress meets the reality on the ground.

An installation by CPPG exploring the Bilaspur flyover as a symbol of the contradictions between infrastructure, public policy and everyday life. It invites visitors to question whether development always translates into meaningful mobility and connectivity.

Gen Z: The Figure of Contradictions

Born into possibilities. Growing up amid contradictions.

An exploration of Gen Z's aspirations for freedom, authenticity and change alongside the anxieties of performance, uncertainty and inherited expectations. The installation by Centre for Childhood and Youth Transitions examines a generation negotiating the space between ambition and constraint.

When Anchors Move: Culture, Community and Migration in the Sundarbans

What happens when the ground beneath home begins to shift?

Through the lived experiences of communities in the Sundarbans, this installation explores migration, displacement, memory, and the changing relationship between people and place. A reflection on the meaning of home amid ecological and social uncertainty

Alchemy of Failure

What if failure is not the end, but the beginning of something new?

An experiential wellness initiative that challenges the stigma surrounding failure. Through reflection and participation, it encourages visitors to reframe setbacks as opportunities to learn, adapt and move forward – transforming a “No” into a new possibility.

Who Else Lives Here? Echoes of Amnesia: At the Edges of Memory, Heritage and Belonging

Look closer. There is more to every place than meets the eye.

Two creative explorations invite visitors to rethink what we see, remember and value.

Who Else Lives Here? A photography competition celebrating overlooked relationships between people, plants, animals and the spaces they share.

Echoes of Amnesia: An exhibition exploring living heritage through oral histories, local food cultures, historical artefacts and the memories of communities whose knowledge often remains unheard.

Together, they ask whose stories become part of our collective memory – and whose remain at the margins.

Where the journey began.

The inaugural edition of SAAR brought the BMU community together for a day of innovation, creativity, dialogue and impact. Conceived as a campus-wide showcase, SAAR 2025 brought together students, faculty, scholars, entrepreneurs, industry leaders, donors and guests — creating a space where ideas moved from the classroom to the real world.

From groundbreaking ideas and technology showcased through SHODH, to art and empathy explored through SWAPNA; from leadership conversations at SAARANSH to thought-provoking debates through SAMVAAD, the first edition reflected the breadth and diversity of the BMU ecosystem.

The day also featured Mera Business, the Management Fair, student showcases and community-led initiatives, extending SAAR beyond the stage and into the campus. Together, these experiences established SAAR as a platform for learning, reflection, innovation, entrepreneurship and meaningful engagement.
