Story

I have known SAVERA since my 9th grade—you may ask how? My sister was the president in 2019, and she was my biggest inspiration. Watching her lead and seeing how much the kids and volunteers adored her was truly heartwarming. That’s when I realised that no other club creates an impact every single day like SAVERA does.
When I finally joined, it became an addiction—the kids’ love pulled me in, and there was no looking back. I made a promise to my previous presidents that I would do whatever it takes to give my best for these children and our incredible volunteers, without whom SAVERA wouldn’t be what it is today. Since then, we have launched several initiatives, including a scholarship program and a competitive exam team. Currently, we have students preparing for four exams, and we aim to expand this to as many exams as possible, ensuring they receive every opportunity they deserve.
We are also in the process of redesigning the entire SAVERA library, giving it a fresh purpose. However, our efforts don’t stop there—we are working towards establishing SAVERA as an NGO and developing an app that will provide extensive educational content and help kids clear their doubts with ease.
As my term comes to an end and I prepare to leave college in a semester, one question lingers in my mind—what will I do every day between 5:00 and 6:30 PM?
I started my journey in SAVERA when there were just about five volunteers for nearly 30 to 40 kids. Back then, I used to teach five or six children every day. I must admit, I’m thankful to the college for introducing community service marks, which helped us gather enough volunteers to run the club effectively.
What I don’t love—and will miss the most—about being president is that I no longer have the carefree joy of simply teaching the kids like I did in my first year. Don’t get me wrong—I love leading all the initiatives right now, but that feeling was something else. One of my goals for my last semester is to teach the kids just as I did before, but I think it’s not going to happen. If the class isn’t in order, the president inside me will take over, set everything right, and ensure all the volunteers are allocated a child.
This journey will stay with me forever. SAVERA has taught me more than I could have ever imagined, especially in terms of soft skills. From teamwork and crowd management to conflict resolution, time management, patience, and empathy—I’ve learned so much. Perhaps I haven’t mastered them all, but I’ve taken the first steps, and I have a lifetime to push my boundaries and continue growing.
SAVERA isn’t just a club; it’s a part of me.
