2nd BML Munjal Memorial Lecture | Thought, Responsibility, and Our Shared Future
The 2nd BML Munjal Memorial Lecture created a meaningful space for reflection on the changing realities of our planet and our collective responsibility within them.
Delivered by acclaimed author Amitav Ghosh and chaired by environmental scholar Amita Baviskar, the evening brought together literature, environmental thought, and social inquiry in a rich interdisciplinary dialogue. The discussion moved across history, climate, culture, and human behaviour, examining how societies imagine catastrophe, respond to gradual ecological change, and interpret their moral obligations toward the Earth.
Rather than approaching climate change solely as a scientific concern, the lecture positioned it as a civilisational and ethical question, one that calls for imagination, intellectual courage, and accountability.
At our institution, to Lead with Purpose is to engage deeply with the defining challenges of our time. Through platforms such as the Memorial Lecture, we reaffirm our commitment to Lead with Integrity, encouraging our community to think critically and situate local realities within a broader global context.
The evening strengthened the public conversation on climate and responsibility, leaving the audience with renewed perspective on the world we are shaping together.
