Dr. Devanjali Relan is a Professor, Faculty Head of the Department of Computer Science & Engineering, and Associate Dean – Faculty Affairs at BML Munjal University (BMU). With over 20 years of experience in teaching, research, academic leadership, and institutional governance, she has made significant contributions to engineering education, interdisciplinary research, and faculty development. She holds a PhD in Medical Image Analysis and Artificial Intelligence from the University of Edinburgh (UK) (supported by prestigious international fellowships and collaborative projects, including the Leverhulme Trust Scholarship), a postgraduate specialization in Advanced Medical Imaging from KU Leuven (Belgium), an M.E. in Control & Instrumentation from Delhi College of Engineering, and a B.Tech in Instrumentation & Control from Kurukshetra University. She has also completed the Certificate in Leadership in Education, Advocacy, and Policy Development from BITS Pilani.
Her research focuses on Artificial Intelligence, medical image analysis, biomedical engineering, healthcare analytics, and digital health, with particular emphasis on developing AI-driven diagnostic and clinical decision support systems using retinal imaging. She leads several interdisciplinary research initiatives in collaboration with leading hospitals, universities, and industry partners, including projects on AI-enabled telemedicine, clinical documentation, child development, and retinal biomarkers.
Dr. Relan has held several leadership positions, and played a key role in establishing BMU’s NVIDIA AI and Advanced Data Computing Centre, strengthening international collaborations, and driving curriculum innovation in AI and Data Science. She has also successfully organized various funded FDPs and workshops. contributing significantly to faculty capacity building and emerging technology education.
Her academic contributions extend beyond research into teaching, mentoring, and curriculum design. She has supervised PhD scholars, published extensively in high-impact international journals, delivered keynote addresses at national and international conferences, and actively contributes to the global research community through collaborative research, innovation, and academic leadership.
