BML Munjal University Marks Constitution Day with Address by Justice Oka and Faculty-Student Debate
On 21 November 2025, the School of Law at BML Munjal University marked Constitution Day with two major events. Justice Abhay S. Oka, retired Supreme Court Judge, addressed students on pursuing litigation, acknowledging early challenges for young and first-generation lawyers and urging stronger support systems. He highlighted the value of Trial and Magistrates’ courts, long-term career fulfilment in litigation, and shared practical advice on sincerity, networking, and learning.
He also discussed diversity in the judiciary, improved representation of women and marginalized groups, and the impact of the new three-year practice requirement before judicial service exams.
A student-faculty debate followed, judged by Justice Oka, on whether all public displays of religion should be declared illegal. After strong arguments on both sides, the team supporting the motion won. The events offered students an engaging learning experience as part of the Constitution Day observance.
