Women in Leadership Conference 4.0: Courage, Conviction and Collaboration in Action
The Women in Leadership (WIL) Conference 4.0 at BML Munjal University brought together leaders, professionals and academicians to reflect on the themes of courage, conviction and collaboration, while exploring how leadership can meaningfully address real challenges in workplaces and society. The opening session recognised the growing number of women stepping beyond traditional roles to pursue entrepreneurship and leadership, demonstrating how women are increasingly shaping solutions to real-world problems.
In her address, Ms. Swati Munjal noted that women currently hold only 26% of leadership positions, while nearly 30% of companies report a decline in women leaders, highlighting the need for stronger representation and institutional support. Drawing inspiration from Kalpana Chawla, she emphasised the power of conviction in overcoming barriers and pursuing ambitious goals.
Delivering the keynote, Ms. Suchitra Ella of Bharat Biotech reflected on her three-decade entrepreneurial journey, underscoring that courage enables individuals to begin, conviction sustains them through challenges, and collaboration helps translate ideas into lasting impact.
Panel discussions explored navigating difficult conversations with empathy, balancing urgent versus important priorities, distinguishing assertiveness from aggression, addressing unconscious bias, and building inclusive ecosystems. A fireside chat with Anita Kapur and Pallavi Dinodia, moderated by Saraswathy Vaidyanathan, highlighted the importance of expertise, governance knowledge and continuous learning in shaping confident and capable women leaders.
The conference reinforced that meaningful leadership emerges when competence, empathy and collaboration come together to create inclusive and future-ready institutions.
