School of Liberal Studies Students Selected for Prestigious Abhijit Sen Rural Internship
BML Munjal University is proud to share that Anjel Minj and Meher Rehman, second-year students of the School of Liberal Studies, have been selected for the prestigious Abhijit Sen Rural Internship, a highly competitive national-level field research programme organised by the National Foundation of India (NFI).
The internship, established in memory of Prof. Abhijit Sen—one of India’s most distinguished development economists and public policy thinkers—offers students an opportunity to engage directly with rural communities and explore critical socio-economic and policy issues through field-based research. Participants undertake primary data collection through surveys, interviews, and focus group discussions, while developing skills in research methodology, analysis, and evidence-based inquiry.
Anjel and Meher were selected through a rigorous nationwide process and are among only 50 participants chosen from applicants across the country. Their achievement reflects both academic excellence and a strong commitment to understanding complex social realities beyond the classroom. Notably, three additional students from the School of Liberal Studies and Media Studies also advanced to the final interview stage, highlighting the strength of BMU’s liberal studies programme.
Through sustained community engagement and guided research, interns will produce detailed research reports that contribute meaningful insights into rural livelihoods, development challenges, and public policy. Experiences such as these reinforce BMU’s commitment to experiential learning, critical inquiry, and socially relevant research, enabling students to connect academic knowledge with real-world challenges and public impact.
