Beyond Boundaries: BMU Faculty Explore Innovation at UC San Diego

The BML Munjal University (BMU) Faculty Immersion Programme 2026 at UC San Diego brought BMU faculty into the heart of one of the world’s leading innovation and research ecosystems, offering new perspectives on entrepreneurship, design, and the commercialisation of ideas.
The programme explored three key areas shaping contemporary education and innovation: Entrepreneurship and Startup Creation, with a focus on turning breakthrough ideas into viable ventures; Design Thinking and Human-Centred Innovation, centred on solving problems by placing people at the heart of the process; and Intellectual Property and Commercialisation, examining how academic research and innovation can move towards real-world and market impact.

Sessions with Greg Horowitt and Jacques Chirazi on The Religion of Innovation, along with an immersive session with Kevin Popović on Design Thinking and Opportunity Framing, encouraged faculty to challenge established assumptions, identify new opportunities, and connect knowledge across disciplines.

The engagement also enabled meaningful exchanges with academic and industry leaders at UC San Diego, providing insights that can contribute to the continued strengthening of BMU’s academic, research, and entrepreneurship ecosystem.

For BMU, such global collaborations are about more than international exposure. They are about building intellectual bridges, bringing diverse perspectives into the university community and strengthening our ability to learn, innovate and create impact—reflecting our ethos of being Indian in spirit, Global in outlook.
