Making Research Matter: BMU at AACSB Leadership Dialogue

Bringing together nearly 200 academic leaders in New Delhi, the AACSB Leadership Dialogue Series, marking 110 years of AACSB, created a platform for meaningful conversations on the future of business education and the role of research in creating real-world impact.

Swati Munjal, President, BML Munjal University, joined the dialogue to share perspectives on moving beyond research output towards work that is clear, meaningful and capable of influencing practice and society. She highlighted the need for accreditation bodies to encourage the sector to recognise real-world impact alongside academic rigour.

The discussion also focused on strengthening the industry–academia relationship. While industry often operates within shorter business cycles, academic research offers the depth and long-term perspective needed to address complex challenges. Building this relationship, she noted, requires greater trust, patience and a shared vision.

Another important theme was mentoring the next generation of researchers and faculty, creating supportive environments where young scholars can develop ideas and pursue meaningful research.

The BMU School of Management team joined Swati Munjal at the dialogue and engaged with Lily Bi, President & CEO, AACSB, and Geoff Perry,
Executive Vice President, AACSB, as well as other academic leaders from across the sector.

The dialogue reinforced a shared vision for business education—where quality takes precedence over quantity, research connects with the world it seeks to influence, and knowledge translates into meaningful impact.
