67th Milestone/Hero’s Challenge 24
BML Munjal University successfully hosted its sixth annual Techno-Cultural-Management-Sports fest, “67th Milestone | Hero’s Challenge’24,” from March 1st to 3rd, 2024. This marked the third time BMU combined its Techno-Cultural-Management & Sports fest since starting this journey in 2020. Themed “Enthusiasmo: Embrace Openness Ignite Happiness,” the fest featured a wide range of artists, performers, athletes, and techies from colleges all over India, particularly Delhi NCR. With participants from more than 70 colleges and universities, the event saw a footfall of over 2000 participants and various star performers. Despite challenges, the unwavering support from management, faculty, and participants contributed significantly to the fest’s success. The 67th Milestone | Hero’s Challenge’24 was a journey filled with excitement and accomplishment, celebrating the unity and spirit of the university community. This memorable event set a high standard for future fests, creating unforgettable experiences for everyone involved.
Founder’s Day
We celebrated Founder’s Day at the campus on Sunday, 5 November 2023. This year, Founder’s Day was a special occasion as it marked the centennial birth anniversary of our dear founder, Dr. Brij Mohan Lall Munjal Ji. The day was filled with heartfelt commemorations and tributes, honouring the legacy and values of our esteemed founder. Students, faculty, and staff gathered to pay homage to Dr. Munjal’s enduring impact and to reflect on the principles he instilled in the institution. The celebrations included speeches, cultural performances, and a commemorative ceremony, all dedicated to remembering and honouring the profound contributions of Dr Brij Mohan Lall Munjal ji.
Janmashtami
“Nandotasav” brought together participants from diverse backgrounds in a joyous celebration, allowing them to express their devotion and showcase their artistic talents. The anticipation began with contestants eagerly following us on Instagram, awaiting our Janmashtami post, which marked the start of this creative journey. The event encouraged participants to display their Janmashtami spirit through dance and music. “Nandotasav” seamlessly blended art, culture, and devotion, ensuring a memorable experience for everyone involved. The celebration featured vibrant performances and heartfelt expressions of devotion, fostering a festive atmosphere that perfectly captured the essence of Janmashtami.
HACKED 2024
In the #Hacked22 hackathon, innovation, networking, and imagination were encouraged within our continually evolving industry. With a nerve-wracking problem statement and an environment full of code and logic, the hackathon provided a platform for the participants. It was a 24-hour hackathon at our campus during the 67th milestone (our annual fest), aimed at hosting upcoming engineers, developers, and mobile and web hackers to promote creativity and innovation among our participants. An open theme was provided to the participants so they could choose their problem statement and work on it.
Exhilarating Kasol-Kheer Ganga Trip
The Adventure Club recently organised an exhilarating trip that captivated participants with its blend of adventure, culture, and natural beauty. This multi-day event offered a unique and memorable experience for everyone involved.
The journey commenced with a warm welcome at the camp in Kasol, where participants enjoyed a hearty breakfast before embarking on a day filled with exploration. The trip’s highlight was the trek to Kheer Ganga, guided by experienced local guides. This trek, spanning several hours, showcased breathtaking views of mountains, cascading waterfalls, and the serene Parvati Valley. Evenings at the Kheer Ganga camp were filled with camaraderie. Participants gathered around bonfires, enjoyed music, and relished delicious dinners, fostering a strong sense of community. The return trek to Kasol allowed participants to Savor the picturesque landscapes again, concluding with a satisfying camp dinner.
Overall, the Adventure Club’s expedition was a resounding success. It provided an immersive and memorable experience that combined adventure, cultural exploration, and relaxation in the midst of nature.
Ladoo Making Workshop
The Culinary Club, in collaboration with Quess, conducted a Laddu-making workshop that saw enthusiastic participation from all the majors, minors, EC members of the club, and other students. The Laddus were prepared as Prashad for Lord Ganesha on the auspicious occasion of Ganesh Chaturthi. Participants embarked on a hands-on journey during the workshop, skillfully crafting Laddus under expert guidance. This immersive experience allowed them to learn and actively engage in every step of this revered confectionery tradition. The workshop provided a profound connection with culinary heritage, making it a memorable and enriching experience for everyone involved.
Project Roshni
Project Roshni aimed to empower the weaker sections of society by fostering dignity, responsibility, productivity, and self-sustainability. Club members envisioned a society where everyone was self-reliant, morally introspective, and consistently learned with integrity. They sought to create a culture of mutual respect and value for diverse backgrounds, opinions, and experiences.
In collaboration with the ENACTUS and STROKES clubs, Project Roshni organised an event for Savera kids. The children painted the DIYAs with materials provided by STROKES, and ENACTUS sold the DIYAs on Founders Day to raise money for the kids.
IDEATHON
IDEATHON, a vibrant platform for entrepreneurial innovation, evolved into a beacon of creativity and transformation. From ideation to the grand finale, it propelled student-driven ideas into real-world solutions. Out of 436 registrations, the top 30 teams were selected, and the final ten competed for recognition and potential investment. The IDEATHON Bootcamp provided participants mentorship, training, and entrepreneurial insights, covering idea validation, business models, sustainability, and the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals.
The journey culminated in the IDEATHON Finals on November 6th, where the top 10 teams presented innovative ideas. Esteemed judges, including industry experts, assessed and celebrated their achievements. IDEATHON celebrated innovation, fostering entrepreneurship and creative problem-solving, turning ideas into action and dreams into reality.
Sustainable Poster-Making Competition
The Sustainable Poster Making Competition, presented by the NSS and the Environment Club, highlighted the power of creativity to raise awareness. Students formed teams of three to participate, with the theme “Sustainable BMU.” The event at the E2 cafeteria saw teams competing for a cash prize. Posters were judged on creativity, theme relevance, originality, and message clarity. The competition was completed, showcasing the innovative efforts of the participants.
Transforming Rural Women's Lives
“Sankalp” was more than just an event; it stood as a testament to the determination, creativity, and resilience of rural women entrepreneurs. Through this initiative, SHERISE aimed to inspire and empower more women to pursue their entrepreneurial dreams and contribute to the socio-economic development of their communities. The event brought people together to celebrate the achievements of these women and support their ongoing journey towards success. By joining forces, participants continued to support and empower rural women on their path to economic independence and prosperity. “Sankalp” became a flagship event for SHERISE, marking a significant milestone in empowering rural women entrepreneurs.
Diwali Dil Se
Diwali Dil Se was a donation drive organised by NSS as a token of appreciation for all the support staff on campus, including horticulturists, mess staff, laundry workers, housekeeping, and security guards. The collected donations were used to buy blankets for Diwali, which were then distributed to the supporting staff at the university. This small initiative successfully expressed gratitude and celebrated the invaluable contributions of the campus support staff.
SPREADING SMILES
Spreading Smiles is an event where we encourage people to donate items to benefit needy people. People can donate anything, such as clothes, shoes, money, etc. To make it easier for people to donate, boxes will be placed outside the D Cafe, boys’ hostel B, girls’ hostel C, new tower, and faculty house. The objective of this event is to help people in need who cannot afford things and to improve their lives.
Harmony of Generations
The visit to the old age home proved to be a profound and enriching experience for both the students and the elderly residents. Through this initiative, around 25 students from the NSS and Enactus clubs gained a deeper understanding of the residents’ needs, daily routines, and the challenges they face. Interacting with the elderly residents gave the students valuable insights and wisdom, enriching their perspectives on life and ageing. Moreover, by spending time with the elderly, the students provided companionship and human connection, alleviating feelings of loneliness and social isolation among the residents. This experience had a positive emotional impact, fostering empathy, compassion, and community among the students and the elderly. Additionally, the event raised awareness among the students about the importance of addressing social isolation and supporting the elderly population in society.
Photography and Videography Workshop
The Photography and Cinematography Club workshop, “Shutter Snap Extravaganza,” invited our university community to step into the spotlight with confidence and style. In an era where digital impressions mattered, the event was tailored to empower individuals with striking professional portraits for their digital profiles. Transforming our campus into a haven of creativity, a bespoke photography setup complete with personalised backdrops and studio gear was curated. Open to all students, faculty, and staff, participants could seize the opportunity to capture their best selves in high definition. Whether it was LinkedIn, Twitter, or Instagram, attendees walked away with polished visual assets that commanded attention. Shutter Snap Extravaganza redefined its online presence with finesse and flair.
Extravaganza ( Performing Arts Club - PFA)
The Extravaganza event organised by the Performing Arts Club (PFA) on April 9, 2024, was a remarkable success, showcasing the diverse talents within our community and providing an evening of entertainment for all attendees. The singing and dancing competitions brought together participants from various faculties, who impressed the audience with their vocal prowess and dance moves, fostering unity and camaraderie. The delectable spread of culinary delights and live music created a vibrant atmosphere filled with rhythm and revelry. We extended our heartfelt gratitude to our sponsors for their generous contributions, which played a crucial role in the event’s success. Adhering to strict rules and regulations, the event provided a safe and enjoyable experience, utilising a budget of 54,000 to deliver an exceptional night. Overall, Extravaganza exemplified the spirit of creativity, collaboration, and celebration within our community, and we looked forward to organising similar events in the future.
Microbit IOT Workshop
The explorative journey into the realms of electronics, the Internet of Things (IoT), and robotics was conducted under the expert guidance of Mr. Shubham. This workshop was designed to cater to individuals of all skill levels, from beginners to those seeking to broaden their knowledge in these dynamic fields. As the semester drew to a close, the workshop served as an essential primer on microcontrollers, providing participants with critical insights and tools necessary for their (JOE) projects. Participants engaged in this transformative learning experience to enhance their technical understanding and innovation capabilities in electronics and robotics.
Smart India Hackathon
The Smart India Hackathon (SIH) was an annual nationwide initiative in India that encouraged and challenged students to develop innovative solutions to real-world problems faced by government organisations and industries. It was one of the largest hackathons in the world, organised by the Ministry of Education, Government of India. The event focused on aspects of problem-solving, student participation, innovation, competition, and addressing real-world issues. During the event, participants collaborated intensively to create prototypes and solutions, demonstrating their creativity and technical skills. The event’s outcome included the development of numerous innovative solutions to various challenges, showcasing the talent and ingenuity of the participating students.
Tech Talks – Bit Manipulation
The event commenced with Mr. Sanket Singh, our speaker, introducing himself and engaging with the audience. Subsequently, he touched upon various intriguing techniques and patterns of bit manipulation. Following the presentation, our speaker entertained questions from the audience spanning a diverse range of topics. Additionally, he provided guidance on excelling in interviews during the placement process and emphasised the essential skills that warranted attention. Drawing from his industry experience, he shared valuable insights that benefited the students in their future endeavours.
KRYSTAL 23
Krystal ’23, the flagship event of Savera, was held on October 26th as a fundraiser. The event started with heartwarming dance performances by Savera kids, followed by impressive performances by university students, engaging games, and a DJ night. Held in the MPH, the event raised 18K for Savera kids. Collaborating with the Culinary, PFA, SMC, Strokes, and PAC clubs, we set up delightful food stalls offering delicious cuisine that kept the audience pleased. The evening showcased the dancing and singing talents of Savera kids and BMU students, making it a memorable night for the entire BMU family.
Savera Kids trip
Savera BMU organised an educational field trip to Delhi National Zoo Park, accompanied by BMU College volunteers, where children were immersed in a memorable experience with wildlife. The children thoroughly enjoyed the vast wildlife, including deer, elephants, lions, tigers, hippopotamuses, white tigers, and more. Throughout the journey, they gained valuable knowledge about wildlife conservation and animal habitats as volunteers provided insights and educational information about each species. The children interacted with the animals, observing their behaviours and learning about their natural environments. It was a day filled with excitement and learning as the children left the zoo with a newfound appreciation and understanding of preserving wildlife and their habitats.
BMU MUN
BML Munjal University successfully hosted its first Inter-Level Model United Nations (MUN), marking a significant milestone. Organised by Club Sierra, the Photography and Cinematography Club, and Club Liquid, the event featured delegates from various schools and colleges. The conference, which included an inaugural ceremony with speeches from the Deputy Secretary General and the Director General, saw intense debates on global issues such as the Israel-Palestine conflict and caste discrimination. Delegates demonstrated passion and intellect, honing skills in public speaking, negotiation, and diplomacy. The event set the foundation for a legacy of MUNs at the university. TED X BMU
TEDx BMU served as a platform where ideas converged, innovations were celebrated, and inspiration thrived, centred around the theme of “Roots.” This year’s event proved to be an enlightening experience, featuring thought-provoking talks and engaging discussions on a diverse range of topics. Esteemed speakers such as Deepak Pareek, Ms Veda Hrudya, Rohit Gulati, Gaurav Mehta, Deepak Gupta, and Sanghmitra Bose shared their insights and experiences, captivating the audience and fostering a spirit of intellectual curiosity and creative thinking. Through their presentations, the speakers delved into the foundational aspects of their respective fields, exploring how understanding and embracing our roots can lead to greater innovation and inspiration.
Udayamita Diwas Celebration 2023
On World Entrepreneurship Day, the TSEC (The Start-up and Entrepreneurship Club) organised an event that garnered enthusiastic participation from around 161 dynamic individuals from BTECH, BBA, and MBA. The event aimed to provide valuable insights into entrepreneurship and inspire the next generation of business leaders. Each startup discussed its journey, challenges, and successes, encouraging and educating the attending students.
The World Entrepreneurship Day event on August 21, 2023, was a resounding success. It brought students face-to-face with innovative startups and fostered a spirit of entrepreneurship. The event showcased the startups’ achievements and ignited innovation and ambition within the student community. By facilitating direct interactions and conversations, the event effectively bridged the gap between academia and real-world entrepreneurship, leaving a lasting impact on all participants..
SCREENING OF CHANDRAYAAN-3
SMC at BML Munjal University hosted a successful screening of Chandrayaan 3 in the university’s auditorium. All students were invited, and the event’s success was driven by SMC’s effective social media and word-of-mouth promotion. The screening celebrated India’s remarkable achievements in space exploration, highlighting SMC’s dedication to knowledge dissemination and inspiring curiosity among students.
Blood Donation Camp
The Blood Donation Camp held at BML Munjal University’s Multi-Purpose Hall in Gurgaon was a remarkable display of compassion and community solidarity. Organised by BMU Youth Red Cross in collaboration with HDFC Bank, the event aimed to collect life-saving blood while raising awareness about the critical importance of blood donation. With around 250 participants, including students, faculty, and staff, the atmosphere buzzed with enthusiasm and a shared commitment to the cause.
Led by a team of dedicated volunteers, the camp operated seamlessly and collected 201 units of blood. Despite some potential donors being denied due to health concerns, the spirit of giving remained unwavering. Esteemed guests, including the Registrar and Dean of Student Welfare of BMU, graced the occasion, further elevating its significance.
