The program aims to provide a mathematical and statistical focus to the subject with the express aim of gaining a better understanding of global issues and attain a deeper, more nuanced understanding of possible explanations and their extensive influences on society.
BMU’s subscription to various updated economic and financial databases will be a key ingredient of the program. Strategic use of the latest databases, as well as economics-related software, will give students an unparalleled edge over the rest of the student community. The case-based learning, real-life applications, and heavy emphasis on applied econometrics make the BMU economics degree a stand-alone degree in this competitive environment.
On successful completion of the program students will gain superior analytical and econometric skills that are not currently offered in the domain, making them stand-alone personalities in the job market.
The B.Sc. Economics (Honours) course covers various subjects including microeconomics, macroeconomics, sociology, psychology, computer economy, Indian economy and more. After the completion of the program, there are several fields in which candidates can get jobs, both in private and government sectors. For a government job, the candidate may apply to the Reserve Bank of India, public sector banks, Indian Economic Services and more. In the private sector, the candidate can work as:
- Financial Manager
- Economic Consultant
- Corporate Lawyer
- Economic Journalist
- Auditor
- Stock Broker
- Media Analyst
For better opportunities, one can go for a Masters or Doctorate degree in the subject. This will allow the candidate to become eligible for the position of a teacher or professor in school or university. Also, they can try for good position in ASSOCHAM, CII, FICCI, National Institute of Public Finance and Policy (NIPFP), National Council of Applied Economic Research (NCAER), Indian Council of Research on International Economic Relations (ICRIER), and Institute of Economic Growth.
Through this course, they can analyze the problem – both inductively and deductively. The candidates clearly understand economic theory and know-how to apply economic reasoning to policy issues in a critical manner. Also, they know how to use different techniques and methods to solve problems. Moreover, they can provide succinct information to a wide audience.

- Eligibility: 10+2 or equivalent
- Admission Process
Applicants will have to go through the following process:
- Submission of completed application form with all relevant enclosures and application fee
- Review of applications and short-listing of candidates
- Personal interview
- Admission decision taken by the selection committee
The decision to short-list applicants for a personal interview and group discussion and make a formal offer of admission thereafter will be taken by the selection committee. The committee’s decision in this regard is final and binding.
